Welcome!

To our prospective donors:
For the past year, Mickey and I have been dreaming up Meta Music Collective and after many false starts and hiccups, we’re finally ready to launch. That’s where you come in. We have a dream for a company that connects all of us from day one, hence why we’re trying to fund ourselves directly from crowd funding. Currently, the music industry as it stands only allows for a small population to succeed in an exclusionary way. We at Meta Music Collective strive to change that. By providing local bands with management and creating a venue space where creativity will be fostered, we will be networking between bands and venues throughout New York City and eventually New York State.
We have a unique approach to management developed through my (Jess’) own experience managing a local indie rock band. Managers will handle all the willy nilly paper work and ticketing aspects of a band, plus anything else the band requires, while getting paid hourly. Typically managers and booking agents get paid from the cut bands receive after a show. Meta Music Collective will pay our managers hourly and take care of all of the PR for shows under our management. This new model allows for bands to maximize their profits and utilize their funds to either develop a savings for rehearsals and merchandise or use it however they may please. How will we afford to pay our guys hourly?
We aim to use the majority of funds raised for starting our venue space. Our goal is to create a safe space for artists to thrive in. If we are able to rent out a space in Brooklyn, we aim to be open Mondays through Saturdays, both during the day and at night. One room within the space would be devoted to recording (for which we already have several recording artists at our disposal) and the rest of the space would be used as our office and workspace during the day. We would have writing workshops and other fun hangout activities during the day. At night, the space would transform into a complete venue space where Monday, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays we would host burlesque nights, open mic nights, karaoke nights, movie nights, and so on, just to name a few. Thursdays through Saturday nights, we would have bands that we work with and bands that we have networked with play. For the first few months, we would be operating as a wine and beer based venue, until we raised enough funds to operate with a liquor license. During the daytime, the space would be all ages, but would be either 18+ or 21+ at night, pending on the event.
There are many different record companies and many different venue spaces throughout Brooklyn. So what makes us different? We don’t exist without you. From day one, we are asking for your contribution, from talent to suggestions. We want to create a community where music lovers can all exist and recreate the industry from a unifying perspective. By giving managers to nurture bands and a place for musicians to belong, we are taking the stress from competition away, and embracing the creation of music itself. Feel free to email us with any questions.
Thank you for reading about our campaign and we’re excited to get started!

What We Need & What You Get

We're trying to raise enough funds to start our venue space. If we don't, that which we raise will go towards reserving practice and recording spaces for the time being, as well as buying computers for social media services and merch for the bands we acquire.
We have many perks that we'll be offering you as a thank you for your contribution. We're going to be getting stickers, entry passes to the venue, free mixing, free event PR, and limited edition t-shirts.

    Other Ways You Can Help

If you can't afford a donation at this time, feel free to contribute in other ways.
    • Spread the word: share this to your friends on twitter and/or facebook.
    • Join our team: we're always looking for new people to join the collective. We want to make as many lasting connections in this music community as possible. Message us at facebook.com/metamusiccollective
    • Point artists in our direction: we're always looking to provide artists with management and connect them with venues. Even if they're not looking for management at this time, we'd love to add their songs to our weekly playlists on Spotify.
